Dr. Sophie R. Couto DDS, MS, Board-Certified Periodontist
Dr. Sophie R. Couto is a board-certified periodontist and a member of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and the Canadian Academy of Periodontology. Dr. Couto was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario. She graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honors Bachelor of Science degree in 2011. She completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Southern California in 2016. Dr. Couto went on to practice general dentistry in Northern Ontario before completing her surgical residency training in Periodontics and Implantology at Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry in 2020. She concurrently completed her Master of Science in Oral Biology at Texas A&M University in 2020 and published her Masters research in 2021.
Dr. Couto is a recipient of numerous accolades and awards. Namely, she is the recipient of the G. Donald Montgomery Excellence in Dentistry Award, the Julio Endleman Memorial Award, the Robert W. McNulty Memorial Award, the Alpha Omega Certificate of Academic Achievement Award, the International College of Dentists USA Section and the Procter & Gamble Student Leadership Award. She is an initiate of the Zeta Chapter of Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Dental Society.
In her spare time, she enjoys baking, travelling, and spending time with her family and her dog Leo.
